Annual Awareness Calendar
A year shaped by awareness, advocacy, and hope.
From Maiya's Legacy to a Movement of Hope. This is the rhythm of our year — eight moments to teach, remember, and invite more people into the work of supporting children and families navigating congenital heart disease, transplantation, and complex medical journeys.
February
American Heart Month
Why it matters: Honoring children and families impacted by congenital heart disease, pediatric cardiac conditions, and lifelong cardiac care — including Maiya's own journey.
How we show up: Heart warrior stories, family education, advocacy content, and community engagement.
Every heartbeat matters.
April
National Donate Life Month
Why it matters: The signature national moment for organ, tissue, and blood donation awareness.
How we show up: Education, storytelling, community partnerships, and our Hope in Motion 5K & Family Walk.
Every step creates hope.
May
Caregiver Strength Campaign
Why it matters: Parents, guardians, grandparents, and caregivers carry an unseen weight when a child faces complex medical challenges.
How we show up: Recognition stories, wellness resources, and direct caregiver support content.
Behind every warrior is a caregiver who never gives up.
June
Summer of Hope Campaign
Why it matters: Preparation season for the July School Supply Giveaway — the more partners and supplies, the more families we reach.
How we show up: Collection drives, volunteer recruitment, sponsorship outreach, and community partnerships.
Hope is built before it is handed out.
August
National Minority Donor Awareness Month
Why it matters: Black and Brown patients face longer waits and lower match rates because too few donors look like them. This is core to why MHP exists.
How we show up: Direct outreach in Black churches, HBCUs, and community spaces. Our Candlelight Walk for Hope & Healing anchors the month.
Love continues beyond loss. Hope continues through giving.
October
Congenital Heart Defect Awareness Month
Why it matters: Educate, advocate, and increase awareness of congenital heart disease and the lifelong challenges faced by heart warriors and their families.
How we show up: Family storytelling, advocacy content, and our premier fundraising event — the Hearts of Hope Gala.
From Maiya's Legacy to a Movement of Hope.
November
National Family Caregivers Month
Why it matters: A national observance recognizing the caregivers who walk every chapter of a medical journey alongside their loved one.
How we show up: Caregiver appreciation, wellness resources, education, and parent-mentor reflections.
Caregivers carry hope when no one else can.
December
Season of Hope Giving Campaign
Why it matters: Our year-end fundraising and impact campaign — highlighting accomplishments, family stories, donor recognition, and the year ahead.
How we show up: Storytelling series, year-in-review impact report, and direct year-end giving asks.
Together, we create hope for families who need it most.
Our annual strategic rhythm: Q1 — Awareness & Community Building. Q2 — Community Engagement & Fundraising. Q3 — Service, Legacy & Healing. Q4 — Advocacy, Major Giving & Sustainability. Partner with us to help carry a season.
